Both medical staff schemes used the 'Surebuild' steel framing system which allowed us to meet the extremely demanding programmes by achieving a weather tight envelope to allow the internal trades to progress.
The 'Surebuild' framing was manufactured locally and we played a key role in helping to develop the system in its early stages on previous housing projects in Newport.
In December 2003, we completed the construction of 6 purpose built bungalows at Drybridge Gardens to re-house residents with physical disabilities, from Monnow Court Residential Home in Monmouth.
The development within a grade II listed 17th Century walled garden included the following elements of sustainability/innovation:
- Greywater recycling
- Solar panels to provide hot water
- Tradis cassette panel wall and roof construction allowing all 6
- bungalows “shells” to be erected within 1 week
- Recycled newspapers as insulation in the Tradis system
- SMART technology to maximise the independence of the residents
