WHAT IS EXTRA CARE?
Extra Care is a style of housing, care and support for older people which falls between sheltered housing and the accommodation and care provided in traditional residential care homes.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
To enable older people to live as independently as possible in their own homes, for as long as possible. Extra Care combines high quality, self-contained accommodation and the provision of flexible care and support services that enables older people to retail control over their lives, whilst receiving support in a safe and secure environment.
OUR FIRST EXTRA CARE SCHEME
In conjunction with Caerphilly County Borough Council, Fairlake recently delivered the Group's first extra care scheme at Cefn Glas, Blackwood.
Innovatively designed with an indoor 'streetscape', enclosed in a glass roofed atrium that provides a communal space where residents can meet socially.
Cefn Glas enables residents to have access to appropriate, cost effective housing within a safe and secure environment, whilst providing flexible levels of care and support to its residents in their own homes and maximising their independence.
Facilities include:-
- reception and foyer
- day centre, lounge and dining area
- kitchen (restaurant standard)
- laundry
- assisted bathrooms (2no)
- electric wheelchair storage and charging areas
- variety of rooms for hobbies including a small computer suite
- hairdressers
- physiotherapy room
- guest sleepover
- accommodation mix
