The Seren Group was formed in 2004 by Charter Housing Association and NASH (subsequently renamed Solas Cymru).
Together we own over 4,500 properties, with an asset base approaching £200 million (at cost) and have annual turnover of £20 million.
Group Structure
As part of this restructuring, in order to give those activities the focus they require in the future, the Charter Housing Group was reorganised. Each of the previous operating departments of Charter became separate companies, with their own identities and their own Board and Director, reporting to the main Group Board.
The Group Members cover the following services:
- Seren Group Limited – Strategic leadership, central support services.
- Charter Housing Association - Landlord and associated services.
- Reach (Supported Living) - Care and support services.
- Fairlake Properties/Gwent Homes - Property consultancy services including asset management.
- Solas Cymru - Care and supported accommodation for vulnerable young people.
More information on the members of the Seren Group is contained in the Group Members section of the Seren site.
Fairlake and Gwent Homes has been formed to take on and further develop the work of our Property Services Department.
Gwent Homes is the only non-charitable organisation within the Group. It is a subsidiary of Fairlake and focuses mainly on affordable home ownership activity.
Both Fairlake and Gwent Homes are regulated by the Welsh Assembly Government and are Industrial and Provident Societies.
The variety of work we undertake has continued to expand since the organisation's inception in 1973. Property related activities have been central to the successful growth of the organisation over the subsequent 3 decades. Under the new arrangements Property Services staff roles and responsibilities remain the same.
Through Fairlake and Gwent Homes the following activities will be undertaken:
- Care and Repair Agency
- Development Agency
- Development & Asset Management Consultancy
- Project Management
- Property Management and Sales
- Regeneration Schemes
